Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Certified Legal Document Preparer do?
A Certified Legal Document Preparer is certified by the Arizona Supreme Court to prepare legal documents for people who are representing themselves. I prepare your paperwork at your direction, using the facts and instructions you give me, and I review it for completeness before you sign. I can also share general procedural information about where documents are filed and what usually happens next. What I cannot do is choose a strategy for you or tell you which legal option is best.
Does AZ Diamond Docs provide legal advice?
No. AZ Diamond Docs is a Certified Legal Document Preparer service, not a law firm, and I am not an attorney. I prepare documents at your direction and explain general procedural steps, such as where a filing goes and what the next administrative step typically is. If you need advice about your rights or about which course of action to take, please speak with a licensed Arizona attorney.
How much does document preparation cost?
The price depends on which documents your matter requires and how much information needs to be organized. I go over the preparation price with you before any work begins, so you know what to expect. Court filing fees, service fees, postage and other third-party costs are separate from my preparation price. Call the office or visit the pricing page and we can talk through what your situation involves.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring a government-issued photo identification, your case number if one already exists, and any court documents you have already received or filed. For a rental matter it also helps to bring the lease or rental agreement and any notices you have already delivered. If you are unsure whether a record is relevant, bring it anyway. You are welcome to call the office beforehand with questions about what to gather.
How long does document preparation take?
Most matters are prepared within about three to five business days once I have the information and records I need. Filings that involve more documents, or that are waiting on missing information, can take longer. Anything that happens after filing is on the court’s schedule rather than mine. If you are working toward a deadline, tell me at your appointment so we can plan around it.
Are court filing fees included?
No. The preparation price covers my work preparing your documents only. Court filing fees, process server or service fees, recording fees, postage and other third-party charges are set and collected by those offices. I will tell you which of these costs typically apply to your filing so there are no surprises.
What information is needed to prepare eviction documents?
I will need the details that go into the forms — the full legal names and addresses of everyone involved, the property address, the relevant dates, and a case number if one already exists. Bring the rental agreement, any notices already given, and any court documents you have received, along with a government-issued photo identification. You decide what information goes into your paperwork; I organize it and prepare the documents at your direction. If something is missing when we meet, I will tell you exactly what to gather so preparation is not delayed.
