Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Certified Legal Document Preparer do?
A Certified Legal Document Preparer is certified by the Arizona Supreme Court to prepare legal documents for people who are representing themselves. I prepare your paperwork at your direction, using the information you give me, and I check it for completeness before you sign or file. I can also explain the administrative steps that come next. What I cannot do is give legal advice or tell you which option to choose.
Does AZ Diamond Docs provide legal advice?
No. AZ Diamond Docs is a Certified Legal Document Preparer practice, not a law firm, and I am not an attorney. I prepare documents at your direction and share general procedural information, but I cannot advise you on strategy, recommend a course of action, or represent you in court. If your situation calls for legal advice, I will encourage you to speak with an attorney.
How much does document preparation cost?
The preparation fee depends on which documents your matter requires and how much information needs to be organized. I go over pricing with you before any work begins, so there are no surprises. Court filing fees, service fees, postage and other third-party costs are separate from the preparation price. Call the office or visit the pricing page to talk through your specific situation.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring government-issued identification, any existing court documents, your case number if you already have one, and the names and contact information of the other people involved. Relevant dates — such as the date of the marriage — are helpful as well. If you are not sure whether a record matters, bring it along or call the office beforehand and we will sort it out together.
How long does document preparation take?
Most preparation is completed in about three to five business days once I have the information and records I need. Matters with more documents, or with information still missing, can take longer. Court timelines are separate from preparation time and are set by the court rather than by our office. I will keep you informed at each step.
Are court filing fees included?
No. The preparation price covers the work of preparing your documents only. Court filing fees, process server or service fees, certified copies and postage are billed separately and are set by the court or the provider. I will let you know which of those costs you should plan for in your matter.
What information is needed to prepare annulment documents?
I generally need identification, the names and contact information of both spouses, the date and place of the marriage, and any existing court documents or case numbers. You will also need to tell me the grounds you are asking the court to consider, in your own words, since I cannot choose them for you or advise whether they apply. Once we have talked it through, I will give you a clear list of anything still to gather.
