A complete overview of the documents, information, and steps required to begin the divorce document preparation process in Arizona. Learn how AZ Diamond Docs helps organize your paperwork efficiently.

When you decide to end a marriage, the administrative process can feel overwhelming. Gathering the right information before you begin can make document preparation significantly smoother.

Understanding the Process

The first step in any divorce proceeding is filing a Petition for Dissolution of Marriage. This document formally asks the court to end the marriage and outlines your requests regarding property, debts, and children.

Information You Need to Gather

Before preparing your documents, you will need to organize several pieces of information:

  • Personal information for both spouses (names, dates of birth, addresses)
  • Date and location of the marriage
  • Information about any minor children
  • A general list of community property and debts

How AZ Diamond Docs Helps

We organize the information you provide and prepare the required court documents accurately. Once prepared, we review them with you to ensure completeness before you sign and file them with the court.

Document Preparation Steps

  1. Information Gathering — We collect the necessary details to complete your forms accurately.
  2. Document Drafting — Our team prepares the required court or administrative documents.
  3. Client Review — You review the documents to ensure all information is correct.
  4. Finalization — We provide procedural instructions on signing and filing.

“We want people to understand the document preparation process and feel comfortable asking questions about the administrative steps.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AZ Diamond Docs provide legal advice?

No. I am a Certified Legal Document Preparer, not an attorney, and AZ Diamond Docs, LLC is not a law firm. I prepare documents at your direction using the information you give me, and I can explain what a form is asking for and how the general process works. If you need someone to tell you what to ask the court for, or how the law applies to your particular situation, that is a conversation for an attorney.

How long does document preparation take?

That depends mostly on how complete your information is when we start and how quickly you get your review notes back to me. When everything is gathered up front, preparation usually moves along without much back and forth. Once your documents are filed, the court sets its own timeline, and that part is outside of anyone’s control.
